The winners of this year’s Alfred Research Alliance publication prizes were announced at today’s Alfred Health Week keynote address, with prizes going to two researchers from Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute and one researcher from Monash University’s Central Clinical School.
The Alfred Research Alliance Prizes for Basic Research and Clinical/Public Health Research are awarded annually for the best journal articles describing original basic or clinical/public health research. The award is made to the first or senior author and is based on the impact factor of the journal.
The winner of the best publication in the Basic Research category was Stephanie Portelli from Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute for her article in Nature Genetics, “Exploring the structural distribution of genetic variation in SARS-CoV-2 with the COVID-3D online resource”.
Joint winners for best publication in the Clinical/Public Health Research category were Alex Voskoboinik, Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, for his article “Alcohol Abstinence in Drinkers with Atrial Fibrillation” and Andrew Wei from the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases at Monash University for his article “Oral Azacitidine Maintenance Therapy for Acute Myeloid Leukemia in First Remission”, both published in The New England Journal of Medicine.
