Mental state deterioration in hospitals
Research by Zimbabwe-native Tendayi Bruce Dziruni, PhD Candidate, Deakin University has been published and highlights the need for:
- Targeted training to improve nurses' clinical skills, knowledge, and confidence in assessing and escalating MSD risks timely
- Collaborative teamwork and communication to improve coordination and management of MSD
Organisational support through extra resources, structured guidelines, and escalation workflows. “Improving MSD management isn’t only just about interventions, it’s about ensuring staff feel confident, supported, and prepared to respond effectively. Let’s bridge the gap between policy and practice to improve both patient safety and staff well-being.” Bruce said.
