Optima is a sophisticated suite of tools, the use of which helps support decision-makers in the health sector choose the best public health investments in areas such as HIV, hepatitis C, nutrition, maternal and child health, tuberculosis and malaria.
Developed by the Optima Consortium for Decision Science, in partnership with the World Bank, the suite of Optima tools is open-access and available via web-based interfaces. Each tool consists of a mathematical model of disease transmission and progression integrated with an economic analysis framework and a formal mathematical optimisation routine.
Optima tools have been used by more than 60 countries to guide resource allocation and to assist with national strategic and operational planning.

An internet connection and computer are required for use and the software is written in Python and JavaScript.
